It could be….

a drained or dead Battery

A common issue if your Chromebook won't turn on is a dead battery.  If the light on the top of the device flickers and goes off, or the status light next to the charger (grades 4 and up) is red, that means the battery is dead.  You will need to plug the unit in via AC charger and let it charge for at least 30 min to an hour and try turning it on again.

overheating

If the device won’t turn on or has turned off and the bottom is warm to the touch. Try to leave the device off for 15-20 minutes while it cools and then try to turn it back on.

a Black/Blank Screen

A "black/blank screen" is when the light on the power button is on, but the screen remains black. First try powering your Chromebook off by holding the power button down for six seconds, then turning it back on again. If powering off does not work, then press Refresh  + tap Power and until the computer returns to a white screen with the Chrome logo. This may take at least 15 times.

a corrupt Operating System (OS)

If the computer turns on but gives you a message saying "Chrome OS is missing or damaged", your operating system may be corrupted. First try powering your Chromebook off by holding the power button down for six seconds, then turning it back on again. If powering off does not work, then press Refresh  + tap Power  until the computer returns to a login screen. This may take at least 15 times.

a failed Chromebook

If none of these tips work, you may have a failed or failing device. Please contact your building main office and arrange for a device swap.
